iPhone 16 vs iPhone 15: keep, sell, or upgrade?
iPhone 16 vs iPhone 15 on FixIndex: support planning references, Apple Self Service Repair prices, and the refurbished and sell samples we actually have.
Updated:
The full table is the iPhone 15 vs iPhone 16 comparison. This note is the ownership question: keep the phone you have, sell it, or move to the other one. The figures are the ones on the site on 31 October 2026. Hubs: iPhone 16, iPhone 15.
Clarification — 3 November 2026: Earlier wording incorrectly described the derived EU planning dates below as confirmed update end dates. These calculation references do not establish when Apple will stop updates. The original publication date and dated price observations remain the 31 October snapshot. Our repair-or-replace guide explains how to separate a planning horizon from manufacturer support evidence.
The update answer we can source
The dates used in this snapshot are derived EU-label planning references: the recorded first EU market date plus the label’s declared 5 years of OS updates. They are not manufacturer-confirmed update end dates.
- iPhone 16: recorded EU market date 19 September 2024, giving a calculated planning reference of 19 September 2029.
- iPhone 15: recorded EU market date 17 September 2023, giving a calculated planning reference of 17 September 2028.
On 31 October 2026 the iPhone 16 worth-it page displayed Yes, for a few years, based on about 2.9 years until the calculated reference of 19 Sept 2029. The iPhone 15 worth-it page displayed Only at a low price, with under 2 years until its calculated reference of 17 Sept 2028. Those intervals do not establish the remaining duration of security updates. Both EU labels are repair class C. That class does not change the answer. The iPhone 16 updates page and the iPhone 15 updates page show the manufacturer line and the derived EU floor together.
Those bands move as the calendar moves. The worth-it page is the current answer. This post is the reading on 31 October 2026.
Official parts, from Apple’s own store
Prices below are the Greece Self Service Repair Store, read on 19 October 2026, including VAT. The full price is the one we use. The second figure is after you return the old part. Germany and Austria were read on 25 October 2026 and are on the same pages: use the country control. We do not copy one country’s price into another.
iPhone 16:
- Battery €110.36, or €57.39 after return. Battery replacement cost.
- Screen €342.24, or €301.17 after return. Screen replacement cost.
iPhone 15:
- Battery €110.36, or €57.39 after return. Battery replacement cost.
- Screen €342.24, or €287.48 after return. Screen replacement cost.
The part-price table lists these beside other phones.
Greek shop prices in this export
Public and Kotsovolos are the Greek phone-price feeds, via Linkwise. The price export dated 31 October 2026 has new-phone rows for both models. The iPhone 16 hub and the iPhone 15 hub each show the lowest of those rows, checked the same day. Every row is listed on the iPhone 16 deal-integrity page and the iPhone 15 deal-integrity page. Those two pages are not in the phone menu. A star marks a Linkwise affiliate link (rel="sponsored"). The affiliate disclosure names the programme. A row from these feeds is a price for a phone. It is not a repair quote. The 30-day-low column reads “Not enough history” on every row.
The iPhone 16 hub’s lowest tracked new price is €1,029.00 at Public. That button is the 128GB White offer. Refurbished from Public or Kotsovolos: the hub has no row.
Public, new, Greece. The link names the storage and colour. Each row is €1,029.00, with 6 days recorded:
Apple’s iPhone 16 spec page lists five finishes: Black, White, Pink, Teal, Ultramarine. Pink and Ultramarine have no Public link in this export. Every Public link names 128GB. No Public link names another storage. The shop before-price column is empty on these three rows.
Kotsovolos, new, Greece. Each row is €1,029.99, with 6 days recorded. The link is a part number. Storage and colour are not in the link, so they stay unnamed here. The shop before-price column is empty:
The iPhone 15 hub’s lowest tracked new price is €679.99 at Kotsovolos. That button is part 291042. Refurbished from Public or Kotsovolos: the hub has no row.
Public, new, Greece. The link names the storage and colour. The shop before-price column is empty:
- 128GB Blue*, €719.00, 5 days recorded.
- 128GB Black*, €719.00, 6 days recorded.
These two are the only Public rows for the iPhone 15. Both name 128GB. A storage or colour those links do not name has no Public offer in this export.
Kotsovolos, new, Greece. The link is a part number. Storage and colour are not in the link, so they stay unnamed here:
- part 290989*, €679.99. The shop before-price on the row is €719.99. 3 days recorded.
- part 291042*, €679.99. Shop before-price €719.99. 6 days recorded. This is the hub button.
- part 291043*, €679.99. Shop before-price €719.99. 6 days recorded.
- part 291041*, €719.99. The shop before-price column is empty. 5 days recorded.
- part 291047*, €859.99. The shop before-price column is empty. 3 days recorded.
- part 291048*, €859.99. The shop before-price column is empty. 3 days recorded.
The shop before-price is the figure that shop put on the row. It is the column “Shop’s before price” on the deal-integrity page. It is not a 30-day low we observed.
A third option, where we have a sample
The keep / sell / upgrade preview for the iPhone 16 can show two samples that are in the export. They are not a general market price, and the page is a preview: it is not in the phone menu.
- Refurbished replacement, refurbed.de, 31 October 2026: €560.00. The source names it 128GB Dual-SIM (2 x eSIM) Blaugrün. Shipping is included in that page price. A cart service fee is not. This is the cost to buy a refurbished unit, not money you receive if you sell.
- Sell quote, Flip.gr, 28 October 2026: €460.00 for 128GB Black, perfect screen and case, unlocked, no liquid damage or burn-in, battery left at the source’s default of 85%, paid in 20 days. The same note lists a faster payment at €428.00.
The iPhone 15 export has neither sample. The iPhone 15 preview does not invent them. On these previews a refurbished price sits beside a replacement budget you type. It does not, by itself, change the recommendation.
If you are buying used, region matters for the SIM. A unit from the United States is eSIM only. Apple’s UK specs for model A3287 list a nano-SIM and an eSIM. The eSIM preview is the page that says which is which. It is not in the menu yet.
Accessories, not linked yet
Chargers and cases are not linked from this post. When an Amazon.de programme is running, an accessory such as an Anker USB-C charger can be added here through the site’s affiliate helper, and the affiliate disclosure will name the programme. Nothing on this page is an Amazon link today.
How to use the three doors
If you already own the iPhone 15, the historical worth-it band reflects the time to a calculated planning reference. It does not confirm when updates end or whether the phone still works. The keep/sell preview is where you put a repair you actually expect and a price you would pay. If you are choosing between the two as a purchase, use the comparison, the official part prices, and the tracked Greek shop rows above. A storage or colour with no row above has no tracked euro in this export.
